How Have Golf Shoes Changed Over Time?
We’ve all witnessed how far the golf ball and clubs have progressed through time, but we frequently overlook how far golf shoes for men and women have progressed in the previous 25 years, or even 150 years. Many golf courses and clubs eventually outlawed the new spiked golf shoes.
Golf Shoes Spalding Saddle
In 1906, Spalding was the first business to introduce the saddle oxford golf shoe. To make this happen, practically every golf course in the world had to restrict the use of metal cleats, but it was well worth it in the end because there are now several golf shoes with soft spikes that provide far more traction than any metal spiked golf shoe did previously.

Tiger Woods’ new line of shoes, the TW, was unveiled by Nike, following in the footsteps of Michael Jordan, who had his own line of shoes. Much of that tendency continued, particularly with new endorsements and players being paid exorbitant sums of money only to wear a footwear brand’s golf shoe. Consider Under Armour’s Jordan Spieth golf shoes, which Jordan helped develop and which essentially launched Under Armour into the golf shoe market. So, where does it leave us in terms of the Spikeless Golf Shoe? In the Master’s Tournament in 2010, players like Fred Couples were observed wearing spikeless shoes.
