Reasons To Buy Reasons TO Buy

  • The Jolt feature is a huge help knowing that you found your target.
  • Having the adjusted target distance due to change in angle is clutch at my local courses.
  • It feels solid in my hand. I thought it was going to feel cheap based on some of the reviews I read
  • My hands start to shake when I hold a rangefinder up for too long. That is not a problem with this tool. The laser gives immediate feedback before my hands begin to shake.
  • Even when just the flag is showing or when fog makes it hard to see the pin, my friends always ask me for distance because this things is never wrong.
  • The built in magnet is really convenient. I thought it would be cheap and most likely fall off easily. I find myself searching for my ball in the rough more often than I would like to admit and have not had it fail me yet.
  • One feature that I did not realize it had is shot adjustment for altitude change. This comes in handy when I am playing at Lake Tahoe vs. a valley course.

Reasons To Buy Reasons NOT To Buy

  • Batteries get burned out fast. 5 rounds and I have gone through two batteries.
  • Not waterproof. There is moisture inside on the lens.
  • There was an orange haze thatmade the yardage hard to read.

Our Thoughts On Bushnell Pro XE Rangefinder

Bushnell makes some of the best golf optics products on the market. They are usually affiliated with hunting, camping and other outdoor activities; not getting the exposure to a lot of avid golfers like some of the other big name golf companies.

Bushnell itself has been around for a long time and became a leader in golf rangefinders in 1995. Since then, they have been rated number 1 for PGA Tour players and caddies.

I think the Bushnell Pro XE Laser rangefinder is a hidden gem in golf optics. I saw a few negative reviews on the web but with the number of reviews that I went through, there is bound to be some.

A couple 1-star reviews gave the product a couple compliments before their complaints. That suggests to me they did not have a 1-star experience.

Seeing so many of the same positive comments (listed in the Reasons To Buy above) makes me believe this is a stand-up product.

Is The Bushnell Pro XE Laser Rangefinder Right For You?

Before you buy a laser rangefinder, there are a few things you should think about.
There are a lot of options on the market for laser rangefinders. You should think about your budget and desired features before purchasing a new laser rangefinder. It’s also worth considering the type of equipment that would be best for your home course.

Budget

If you want an industry-leading laser rangefinder, you’ll need to spend at least $600. For roughly $200, players can get an older version of the device with more basic but nonetheless accurate measurements.

While the higher-priced equipment may appear to cost a lot of money up front, use some simple math to evaluate if it’s really worth it. Consider the cost of a caddie per round and the number of rounds you play in a year. If you pay $60 for a caddy every time you play, your laser rangefinder will have paid for itself after 10 rounds.

Features

In most cases, laser rangefinders will give you an accurate distance measurement to within 1 yard of the target. The adjusted distance measurement is available on the most modern systems. This could explain the slope, temperature, humidity, wind, and altitude.

According to USGA regulation 14-3, these elements are not permitted in events. If you frequently compete in amateur tournaments, you may wish to invest in a regular laser rangefinder to prevent breaking the regulations. Standard versions provide a precise distance to your objective but do not have compensated distances, and they are less expensive.

Brand

Over the last ten years, the laser rangefinder business has exploded. As a result, a number of companies have entered the market, the most well-known of which are Bushnell, Nikon, and Garmin. Although there are a number of lesser-known brands that provide exceptional value.

The prices of products from well-known companies tend to be on the higher end of the scale. However, you may get one of their older models for the same price as some of the smaller manufacturers’ latest additions.

If you’re on a tight budget but want the security of a well-known brand, an older model is the way to go. A newer release from a smaller company should be considered if you want the newest technology but are on a budget.

Range

When considering the maximum range of gadgets, one must consider the overall yardage of the links you play the most. If your home course is long, consider investing in a laser rangefinder that can lock onto the pin from afar. From up to 400 yards away, devices with a range of 1000 yards can give you a measurement to the pin.

Waterproof

This is not something that most golfers consider. Until their equipment is completely submerged in water due to severe rain. Because of their small size, it’s difficult to cover laser rangefinders with waterproof material. As a result, most electronics are rainproof rather than waterproof. This indicates that the device cannot tolerate large amounts of water and may be damaged under certain circumstances.

If you live in an area where rain falls unexpectedly, make sure your laser rangefinder is waterproof rather than rainproof before you buy it.

Magnification

Devices with higher magnification allow you to detect distances from a greater distance. Devices are prompted to zoom in and focus on the subject as a result of the magnification.

The magnification on older laser rangefinders was usually 5x. The magnification on new versions is usually 6x or 7x.

Rangefinders with a range of 1000 yards and a 5x magnification lock onto the pin from 400 yards away. Your unit’s laser will pick up the flag from 450 yards away at the same distance and 6x magnification.

Take into account the length of your home course and the distances you’ll be reading from. If your home course is short, investing in an equipment with higher magnification levels is unnecessary.

Bushnell Golf

Bushnell is the industry leader in golf laser rangefinder equipment due to their ability to provide golfers with accurate distance measurements. Bushnell products are used by 99 percent of PGA tour golfers and their caddies during practice as of 2020.

Manufacturers offer a diverse range of products for golfers of all skill levels and budgets. Personally, I’ve seen that range finders in recent years have a lot of the same functions as previous models. Which didn’t make me want to spend a lot of money.

When it comes to their latest model, the Bushnell Pro Xe, my opinions have shifted slightly. This is, in my opinion, one of Bushnell’s most intriguing items in recent years.

Features and Advantages

Elements

This is Bushnell’s greatest laser rangefinder accessory. To offer you exact compensated distance estimates, the elements take into account current temperature, adjusted altitude, and slope. Compensated distance readings take into consideration the current distance to the flag based on your surroundings.

It does not account for wind speeds, yet it is the most accurate measurement of adjusted distance available. These functionalities are referred to by the USGA as “effective playing distance features,” and they are not permitted during competitions.

Visual Jolt Technology

The brand’s jolt technology, which was initially seen in the Tour V3, has been strengthened with visual jolt technology. On top of delivering the two faint vibrations, Visual Jolt now displays a red ring around the flag. This makes it easier for the golfer to determine when the instrument has reached the cup measurement.

Modes

As I previously stated, there are several features on the Pro Xe that are not tournament legal. Bushnell has addressed this issue by including a switch on the device that toggles between slope and standard mode.

The usual option just offers you an accurate measurement of the distance between your ball and the target. There will be no compensated measurements sent to you. If you’re a dedicated golfer, having the ability to switch between two settings is perfect. It allows you to practice distance control while avoiding the risk of being disqualified in a tournament.

Waterproof

Bushnell laser rangefinders are not only loaded with cutting-edge technology, but they also look great. Older models could only be supplied with rainproof material due to their compact, ergonomic design.

The Bushnell Pro Xe is water-resistant and can withstand submersion. Finally, a laser rangefinder for golfers who live in locations with a lot of rain each year.

Magnification

With the Pro Xe, Bushnell has upped the ante. 7x magnification is included with this model. Using the device’s laser to zoom in and latch onto the flag from a distance of 450 yards.

Range

A total range of 1,300 yards is possible with the Pro Xe. On lengthier par 4 and 5 courses, the added distance capability helps you to clearly spot objects in front of you. You’ll be able to plan your approach from the tee to the green.
